Fourth Annual Texas Hold ‘Em
YanceyVillage Preservation Supporting Art and History in Caswell County

Welcome to YanceyVillage Preservation's Poker website! Yancey House Restaurant’s not-for-profit YanceyVillage Preservation announces its third annual Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament for 2010-2011. Play begins Friday in June at 6:30 p.m at the Pavilion located behind the Yancey House Restaurant at 699 U.S. Hwy 158 in Yanceyville, NC.

This is the first of a number of mini-tournaments held throughout the year. Each of the top eight finishers of each satellite receives an invitation to play in the Grand Finale held Friday, April 29, 201`. The grand champion of that tournament will be awarded a $10,000 entry to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas next summer. Andy Smith from Wake Forest was recently crowned this year’s champion, beating out 48 tough competitors. David Dawkins from Haw River won the first championship in 2008.

As in the past two tournaments, Texas Hold 'Em instructions are available at 6 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30. Play begins promptly at 7 p.m. The cost for dinner and entry is $40. Your donation is tax deductible and 100 percent of the profits goes to support YanceyVillage Preservation programs and projects.

Friday Tournament Dates: July 8, 23, August 6, September 10, 24, October 8, 22, November 5 & 19, January 7, 21, February 4, 18, March 4, 18, April 1, 15. The top winners of each satellite tournament will compete at the Grand Finale April 29, 2011. To reserve your seat, call 336.694.4225.

You only have to finish among the top winners in one satellite in order to receive entry in the grand finale, but remember, the more satellites you play, the more chips you can accumulate, and the more chips you will have to play with in the grand finale.

YanceyVillage Preservation and Your Contributions. The support of area poker players has made it possible for YanceyVillage Preservation to purchase the complete art collection of Sayed Rawi from his estate after he was tragically killed last year. In September, Megan Hicks of Alexandria Virginia will be YVP’s artist in residence. This origami swami and storyteller will offer storytelling workshops for at-risk teens, daycare workers, parents, and grandparents.

In addition to promoting the arts in Caswell County, YanceyVillage Preservation seeks to preserve, protect, and promote rural Caswell County’s rich history through such projects as the restoration of historically significant structures including the largest tobacco barn in Caswell County (and perhaps NC). We are pleased that Kevin Thomas, the “log whisperer,” has expressed interest in undertaking this project once funds are procured.
